The homeowner heard cutting and banging down in the basement. When she went down to see what was going on, this is what she saw. She also knew something was not right. In order to put in the shower drain for the bath above, both joists where cut in the middle of a 14'0" run. That's something you should never do.
Which means the framing was done wrong to begin with. To top it all off there is tile up above, which means concrete base. By cutting the joist they negotiated the structural integrity of the entire bath floor. In order to re establish framing we had to install another joist along side of the existing run.
